Lauren Boebert Stands Up for Women Athletes: Raising Funds for Stricken Boxer

Boebert’s Campaign for Fair Play in Women’s Boxing

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., is taking a stand for fairness in sports. She’s kicked off a fundraising effort to back Italian boxer Angela Carini, who faced an unexpected challenge at the Olympic Committee’s hands.

Carini, a contender in the 66-kilogram women’s division, saw her aspirations shattered mere seconds into her match. The reason? Her rival, Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, possessed male chromosomes – an edge that no female athlete should have to contend with. Carini’s resolve wasn’t enough; she was unable to continue after a powerful blow from an opponent who, many argue, shouldn’t have been in the ring with her.

Boebert’s Reaction to the Controversy

Expressing her frustration to Fox News Digital, Boebert stated: “It’s really unfair when women, who’ve dedicated themselves to their sport since childhood, are forced to face off against male athletes who aren’t even top-tier in their own category. Angela deserves justice. She’s committed her entire life to boxing, and I feel for her situation.”

“Angela deserves better. She has devoted her life to her sport and my heart goes out to her.” – Lauren Boebert

Khelif’s Disqualification and Ongoing Controversy

At the 2023 World Championships, Khelif was barred from competing due to failing gender eligibility requirements. Umar Kremlev, President of the International Boxing Association, was straightforward in his explanation: “DNA tests revealed that some athletes were pretending to be women. They have XY chromosomes and were correctly disqualified.” Despite this precedent, the situation persists.

Event Outcome for Khelif
2023 World Championships Disqualified for failing gender eligibility standards
Olympics Allowed to compete despite previous disqualification

Boebert further commented, “The Olympics has opened the door for men to engage in direct physical competitions against women. This situation is absolutely unacceptable.”

Fundraising Effort for Carini

In light of these events, Boebert has set up a Give Send Go campaign with the goal of raising $196,000 – the same amount Italy gives to its gold medal winners – to support Carini. “Every cent raised will go straight to Carini,” Boebert promised. It’s time we rally behind our female athletes and call for fair competition. This situation has gone on long enough!
