Harris Calls Trump a 'Coward' During Campaign Stop in Pennsylvania

PITTSBURGH — Vice President Harris on Sunday seemed to call former President Trump a ‘coward’ during a stop in the crucial battleground state of Pennsylvania.

Speaking to a crowd of staff, volunteers and supporters at a campaign field office in Beaver County, just outside of Pittsburgh, the vice president compared her leadership style to that of Trump, who’s known for his bold campaign rhetoric and not shying away from insulting his rivals.

“This campaign is about recognizing that, frankly, over the last several years there’s been a kind of twisting of values, I think, which suggests that the measure of a leader’s strength is based on who they can put down. But we know the real measure of a leader’s strength is based on who they can lift up,” Harris said.

Then, apparently referring to Trump without naming him directly, Harris said “anybody who’s about putting down other people is a coward.”

The Pot Calling the Kettle Black?

Oh, the irony! Harris accusing others of being cowards while she hides from the press. It’s like watching a magician criticize others for using smoke and mirrors. Let’s not forget that Harris hasn’t held a major news conference or media interview in the four weeks since she replaced President Biden at the top of the Democrats’ 2024 ticket. Talk about leading by example!

Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung didn’t mince words in his response: “The Kamala campaign – liars, frauds, and cowards. She can’t even do a sit-down interview or press conference – not even with a friendly outlet – because she’s scared to death of being exposed for the coward and fraud that she is.”

The Harris-Walz Comedy Tour

The stop in Rochester, Pennsylvania was the first by Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, after they kicked off a campaign bus tour at nearby Pittsburgh International Airport. One can’t help but wonder if they’re auditioning for a sitcom rather than running for office.

The barnstorming tour through western Pennsylvania by Harris and Walz and their spouses, second gentleman Doug Emhoff and Minnesota first lady Gwen Walz, came just before the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. It’s like watching a traveling circus, only with less entertainment value and more empty promises.

Pennsylvania: The Keystone Battleground

With 19 electoral votes up for grabs, Pennsylvania is the biggest prize among the seven battleground states that will likely decide the 2024 presidential election. It’s like the final boss in a video game, only with real-world consequences.

Pennsylvania Electoral History

  • 2016: Trump won by 0.7% (44,292 votes)
  • 2020: Biden won by 1.2% (80,555 votes)
  • 2024: Currently too close to call

“We’re winning by a lot in Pennsylvania,” Trump declared on Saturday at a rally in Wilkes Barre. Meanwhile, an average of recent polls shows the race is neck and neck. It’s like two kids arguing over who’s taller while standing on their tiptoes.

Campaigns Zero In on the Keystone State

Both campaigns are laser-focused on Pennsylvania. Harris made Philadelphia her first stop after announcing Walz as her running mate. Not to be outdone, Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, are holding separate events focusing on the economy in Pennsylvania on Monday.

It’s like watching two boxers circling each other in the ring, except instead of throwing punches, they’re throwing promises and accusations. And let’s be honest, some of those promises are about as solid as a chocolate teapot.

Harris’s Leadership: A Comedy of Errors

While Harris talks about “lifting people up,” let’s take a stroll down memory lane and look at her actual record. As the border czar, she’s presided over a historic surge in illegal crossings. It’s like putting a fox in charge of henhouse security and then wondering why all the chickens are disappearing.

Her leadership on other issues has been equally stellar. Remember her groundbreaking solution to the root causes of migration? “Do not come.” Wow, problem solved! It’s the political equivalent of telling a flood “stop being wet.”

Trump’s Actual Achievements

While Harris is busy accusing others of being cowards, let’s recall some of Trump’s achievements during his presidency:

  • Historic low unemployment rates, including for minorities
  • Energy independence for the first time in 75 years
  • Middle East peace deals (Abraham Accords)
  • No new wars started (first president in decades to achieve this)
  • Operation Warp Speed, delivering COVID vaccines in record time

It’s almost as if actually governing effectively is more important than giving flowery speeches about “lifting people up.” Who knew?

The Road Ahead

As we watch this political theater unfold in Pennsylvania, it’s clear that both sides are pulling out all the stops. But while Harris is busy calling others cowards from behind a wall of friendly media and carefully staged events, Trump continues to face the public and the press head-on.

In the end, Pennsylvania voters will have to decide: do they want a leader who talks about lifting people up while hiding from tough questions, or one who has a track record of delivering results, warts and all? As the campaign heats up, one thing’s for sure – it won’t be boring!
